Chapter One, Page One

Placitas Snow

Welcome to a brand new year, neighbors! (and a brand new blog, as well as a new living space for me & Annabella).

I’ve named this new place “Satellite Ride” because I feel like a satellite orbiting Earth.  I don’t know why I must keep moving, it seems to be directed by powers greater than I.  It’s no use resisting the momentum, better to simply say yes to life and flow as harmoniously as possible.

I’m starting over, completely bare~bones, a woman on my own at age 48.  I hope to learn a great deal in my new home: basic handy~person skills around the house, automobile maintenance, construction, homesteading, etc.  I aim to learn how to do the things that Clay’s been doing for us these past 13 years.  I have a hunch that 2011 is a work year.  I hope to experiment with video camera work and I hope to produce a steady stream of artwork and creative writing.  Most of all I hope to help others.  My shirt sleeves are rolled up and I’m ready to focus.

I feel excited and frightened to be starting over, remaking a new kind of life arrangement for myself.  I’ve always had someone else to take care of, until now.  I feel awkward.  There will be messes made, mistakes experienced, successes and failures.  My dreams might blow up in my face.  I might freeze to death.  I might turn out to be a big fat jerk. I might pee in my pants.  Or, I may manifest something bigger and better than the happy dreams I’ve imagined, something that benefits others and makes this world a nicer place to be in for all concerned.

I’m packed and ready to officially begin this new chapter tomorrow with the physical move to a new home in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains.  May I continue to be blessed by the loving kindness of others and may my being bless others along the way.

A sweet toast to all of us:  may 2011 be filled with ten~thousand little happinesses.  May we continue to open our hearts and find love everywhere we go and in everything we are involved in.  Thank you for being part of what life is about.
